08. Coaching is already a job
The tools we use have to earn their place at practice.
I love technology. I can happily lose an afternoon looking at workout data.
That is my problem. It shouldn’t become yours.
A tool should help you understand something useful about your athletes or make the work easier. Information should be easier to record, find, and discuss. A graph should help answer a question you actually have.
You already have a coaching job. You shouldn’t need a second job keeping the software happy. Buying a tool should not mean becoming its unpaid intern.
Your time matters. Anything asking for a piece of it should give you something worthwhile in return.
